Whose is this and Why is Wet?

I stopped by the kids house the other day to pick something up.

It was early morning, and I was greeted by three little boys in various stages of getting ready for school: half dressed, cereal spilled here and there, laughter as they fed the dog and emptied the dishwasher, all the while poking and punching each other to the cacophony of "Mom! He hit me!" and such.

In the middle of the chaos stood my lovely daughter-in-love, already dressed and ready for work, singing out in a loud voice while holding up a shirt, "Whose is this and why is it wet?"

How could you help but love the whole scene?  And yet at our age, how could you help but want to escape and go home for a nap?

Our lives have been like this since we recently returned from a year away.  Our days have been filled, mostly sitting on telephone trees chasing up neglected paperwork, renewing just about every card we own, either because it was stolen in Spain, or else simply expired.

Besides all that, old ministries are waking up again, and as happy as we are for that, it's an adjustment.  We have already forgotten the 'luxury' of relaxing pool side where our greatest decisions involved the question of whether we wanted the fish or the meat.

And isn't it good to be busy!  Life is about being busy and living purposefully.  There are countless scriptures reminding us that we're here for a purpose, and that's to be ALIVE for God.

A friend sent me this quote by someone known as Dr. Caroline:

"Your purpose is not the thing you do.  It's the thing that happens in others when you do what you do."

My daughter has a toddler.  She doesn't get to "DO" much, but everyday her being there is making a huge difference in a little boy's life. Another young mother once commented when I asked her what was on her schedule that day, “I’m determining destinies!”

And isn't that true for all of us.  We don't need to be crazy busy, but if life makes us that way, we don't need to fight it either.

Loving God, following Him and doing what we do.........that's the key.

"And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the Name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by Him." (Colossians 3:17 (KJV).

Keep up the good work.......and no, I didn't stay long enough to see whose shirt it was.
