Hello 2026

 Well Friends,

This has been a busy week.  A lot of you were snowed in, and we here in Australia, were experiencing very uncomfortable heat!  Isn't it funny how the earth is round and all that, dictating the seasons with some predictably (as well as surprises) and all.

Speaking of the planet, Tony's made another trip around the sun this week. How we ever got this old can only be attributed to God, that's for sure.  Two doctors’ appointments have announced that we're as 'fit and hale' as we should be at this age.  I have to admit life isn't as easy as it was in our 40's. We have to have more routines to get things working in the morning, stretching and groaning, and we keep a bottle of ibuprofen in the hall closet.......with the child lock lid OFF.  

We also 'started school' (at least the grandkids did) for the new year.  My boys are now in grade 11, 9, 5 and preschool.  Fortunately, they all love school and we all yearned to get back to the routines!  

Tony's back to his teaching and preaching duties, at church as well as the little seminary that we enjoy so much. As you're reading this, he has preached a full Japanese sermon today, something he hasn't done in several months.  It was well received.  

I enjoy fluttering around trying to keep up with so many of you. Some of you are neglecting touching base, you know who you are!!

I've been reading the Psalms lately.  I think David had some 'life' memories that he liked to speak about.  We (if you read him often) realise that he had both up and down moments and he liked to note down both. Lesson received.

For example. “My mouth will speak in praise of the LORD. Let every creature praise his holy name for ever and ever.” - Psalm 145:19

“The whole earth is filled with awe at your wonders; where morning dawns, where evening fades, you call forth songs of joy.” – Psalm 65:8 

I'm focusing on all the praises; his life was good.......and so is ours.  

Tony and I hope this new year is giving you reasons to be thankful.  Let's continue to enjoy this season, whether it's really hot or really cold, and hang in there!

    Hello from another warm place. Just wanted to tell you that I read a light but interesting book, Searching fir Mrs. Oswald Chambers by Martha Christian. it was not at all what I expected but a fun read. Have a great week!

Good News and Salt Licks

 G’day Fellow Travellers, I think many of you might be on Facebook and so noticed the picture I took out the back of our house the other day… seven of the most majestic English-originated Red Deer you ever saw.   It’s a bit of a mystery how they got there, since they are not native to Australia and DEFINITELY not welcome among the country’s flora and fauna. It’s believed they were introduced some time back by a wealthy entrepreneur with plans to start up a new industry. Nobody is saying for sure, but the only thing that can be said is that the deer love it here! Those Pesky Chimeras

 So some people collect stamps; I like to collect words. No one’s ever accused me of being ‘smart’ but sometimes I like to be a “smart aleck” and throw out a word in casual conversation that not many of my cohorts will immediately understand. It’s fun to watch their reactions, like, “Oh! You mean THAT fogdog!” or else, “I think I knew that …” Today’s word is “Chimera”. If you already know what that means, there went my fun for today. You can skip ahead to the application. “Chimera” is a noun that describes something wished for but is either illusory or impossible to achieve. Lately I’ve been painfully aware of two chimeras in my life. One comes to mind when I’m looking back; the other when I’m looking ahead.   Not that I’m counting, but I believe I’ve spent about 80% of my adult life on a diet, on that never-ending search for the perfect body.
