Recognizing vs Honouring

 Good Morning Friends,

Hope all is going well for you.

Many years ago, we found ourselves in Southern California. For the life of me, I can’t remember now why we were there, but at this age, that sorta comes with the territory. Anyway, we had been driving all day and needed a place to rest.  We were looking for a reasonable place to stay, and back in those days, there were little "tourist magazines" tossed around gas stations and fast food chains.  In one of those, I had found a coupon that suggested that if I showed it to this particular motel chain, they'd reduce the cost of the room by 30%. That, as usual, was attractive to me.

I carefully tore out the coupon and handed it to Tony and my daughter while they started off for the office. A few minutes later, Nicki came out and said, "I think Daddy's going to need your help"

She knew that Tony's a lover, not a fighter, but I couldn't imagine what the problem was as I hurried in.  There stood Tony with a look of concern and defeat, begging for rescue.  "He says he doesn't recognise this coupon," he whispered.

"WELL!" I thought as I huffed up to the counter.  "I'll show him a thing or two!"

I started strong.  “This is in the TOURIST magazine.  It's for YOUR motel, so how is it you don't recognise it!”

Then came the answer.

“Oh I recognise it, lady,” he drawled.  “It's just that we're not HONOURING it!”

Don't you love the English language?  “Here it is, but we're not giving it to you!” We left and went and paid full price elsewhere.

What about those words, “Recognising” vs “Honouring”?

Without a doubt, the devil “recognises” Jesus.

Last week, we had a long discussion with a Mormon gentleman.  He certainly recognises Jesus, but it soon became obvious that he doesn’t exactly honour Him. We kept trying to point out the obvious differences in our faith, but he spoke on, acting as if we believed the same thing.

I believe it’s true for him, and for a lot of folks in his situation: Without asking the right questions, a person can claim a head knowledge while disregarding the honour that needs to come with it.

At the end of the day, I think God is only going to have one specific question for us at Judgment: “What did you do with my Son?”

Think about it!! Please!

Till next week, Marsha
